Glazed Lemon Poppyseed Bread
This recipe for Lemon Poppy Seed Bread has been handed down in our family for several generations. It is a favorite of everyone who likes lemon flavored baked goods, and even those who are not fans of lemon have enjoyed this glazed bread, which can be eaten with a meal, for dessert or just by itself as a delicious holiday snack.
Ingredients
½ cup oil
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 teaspoons grated lemon peel
1 ½ cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
1/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon poppyseeds
½ teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
Cream oil, sugar, eggs, and lemon peel. Add the remaining ingredients. Pour batter in a bread pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes.
Glaze
Juice of 1 lemon
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
Mix lemon juice and powdered sugar in a bowl until smooth. Drizzle on warm bread.
